Why the Strategic Campus Plan?

The purpose of the campus plan is to ensure an attractive environment that attracts and retains researchers, students, staff and partners. At the same time, DTU Lyngby Campus will gain three light rail stations in 2026, which has significant implications for mobility planning across the campus.

Through strategic planning, DTU ensures that the campus can continue to evolve to meet the need for excellent learning and research facilities, while offering an attractive campus environment with more vibrant outdoor spaces that benefit students, lecturers, researchers and the surrounding community alike.

The strategic plan supports both the development and preservation of the campus landscape and introduces a new spatial network of connections and shared spaces, indoors and outdoors. This will create new opportunities and experiences across a campus where the architecture is designed on a human scale.

Strategic and Physical Themes

The Strategic Campus Plan for DTU Lyngby Campus is based on DTU's strategy and an overarching vision for DTU's campuses, aimed at maintaining and enhancing a campus of the highest quality in every respect.

The plan is structured around four strategic themes: value creation, an excellent university environment, identity and campus environment, as well as four physical themes: landscape, mobility, architecture and utilities.
